Remaking the Cinema Experience
Preparing for the commercial challenges of the digital eta

Date Of Conference: 3/18/2004

The cinema industry is continuing to undergo enormous internal changes and externally is facing the technical challenges of the digital world and evolving public expectations and legal requirements.

In 2003 two major circuits changed ownership, there were some unexpected senior management changes and two specialist circuits amalgamated. The current batch of multiplex developments are nearly all open with few to follow. Admissions were flat. Costs continue to rise and legislative burdens increase.

It is against this demanding background that the 2004 conference will provide informed debate on some of the major issues facing cinemas and film supppliers today. Key issues to be addressed are audience development, disability access, the new licensing regulations and the controversial introduction of digital projection.
